Now, more than ever, it is important to have your independent insurance agent review coverage amounts, deductibles and premiums.

Your Massachusetts home insurance agent will shop your appropriate coverage with multiple companies.

Things to consider:

Higher deductibles = Money In The Bank (if no losses)

Higher deductibles = self insuring small claims = no loss credits = lower premiums = insurability

Package your home insurance with your auto insurance. Big discounts are applicable to both policies.

If you have not reviewed your Coverage A, Dwelling, amount in a few years, it is a good idea to revisit. Your independent, Massachusetts insurance agent will be happy to review your coverage.

Your home’s Coverage A, Dwelling Amount, should represent the amount of money that it would take to rebuild your home, or Replacement Cost. Your MA home insurance policy’s Coverage A amount should represent pure construction cost. Not included is your property’s land value.

Many companies increase your Coverage A amount annually by anywhere from 3% – 6%, in an attemtp to keep pace with inflation and increased construction costs.

If you have not reviewed your Coverage A, Dwelling, amount in a few years, it is a good idea to revisit. Over time, home insurance Dwelling amounts can get far removed (higher or lower) than the home’s actual Replacement Cost amount.

Your independent, Massachusetts insurance agent will be happy to review your coverage.

The MPIUA is the best viable option for many MA homeowners near the coast, on Cape Cod, or with properties not eligible for insurance in the voluntary market. Although you may be with The MPIUA, it doesn’t mean that you don’t have choices. We recommend you shop your MPIUA renewal with a Massachusetts Independent Insurance Agency like: Johnson & Rohan Insurance. Your agent should review your coverage, give you options and package with your auto insurance.

Did you know many MA auto insurance companies give account discounts if you have an MPIUA home insurance policy?

Our MA Independent Insurance Agency often recommends higher deductibles to save money.

Our MA Independent Insurance Agency often recommends higher deductibles to save money. With no losses, these savings are, literally, money in the bank.

In addition to savings, higher deductibles force one to self-insure the smaller claims. By avoiding submitting claims, consumers preserve their “loss free” credits. By avoiding claims companies are less likely to non-renew, allowing consumers to stay in the voluntary, competitively priced home insurance market.
